Omaha, NE Chapter – Catholic Schoolhouse

Meet Our Mentors

Katy Bisanti:

I will be the 2017-2018 music mentor for the preschool music and elementary programs at Catholic Schoolhouse. I earned my bachelor’s degree in vocal music at the University of Kansas. While studying, I participated in KU’s top choirs and I had the opportunity to perform in Opera and musical theater shows. I am looking forward to providing students with a program that highlights the beauty and tradition of our Catholic Faith through Sacred Music.

Students will have the opportunity not only to sing classical repertoire, but they will also receive basic training in music theory, sight singing, aural training and gain knowledge about the history of music. Throughout the year the choirs will sing for Mass before classes each week and we will also hold two to three outside performances to showcase what we have learned.

I am very much looking forward to this opportunity to share my love for sacred music and I hope to inspire others to this appreciation as well.

Anne Tucker:

I am the Art Mentor for the 2017-2018 school year. This will be my third year as the Art Mentor, and my third year homeschooling. My husband, Ty, and I have five children – all are students at Catholic Schoolhouse.

I have undergraduate degrees in Human Service Counseling and Elementary Education from Wayne State College. I also have my Master’s Degree in School Counseling from Wayne State College. I have taught from the elementary level thru college level prior to homeschooling.

I love learning, and love teaching! I also love to see kids get creative – and sometimes even messy!

Pam Golka:

I’m the 2017-2018 Science Mentor and this year our young scientists will enjoy weekly hands-on experiments and projects some of which they take home for further observation and discovery. This year we’ll study Zoology, Weather, Anatomy, and Electricity & Magnetism as we focus on God’s “ahh-mazing” handiwork.  Our classroom is transformed into a Science Lab experience for our students where we explore and learn together.  It’s a fun and dynamic class the students really enjoy!

This is our second year with CSH and our third year as a homeschooling family. We welcome the cohesiveness CSH brings to the multiple ages in our home. Having shared subjects helps our homeschool days run more smoothly while allowing each child to expand upon the material introduced at our CSH classes. I’m a Pius X High School (Lincoln, NE) graduate and earned a BA in Communications from UNL.  I’ve instructed and/or assisted in various teaching roles including catechism classes and American Heritage Girls.

Mara Fosdick:

I will be the 2017 -2018 five-year-old grammar Mentor. I earned a double major in Literature and Sacred Theology and minors in Philosophy and Sacred Music at Ave Maria University in Florida. This was after spending four years in religious life with the Missionaries of Charity and The Cloister Poor Clares of Perpetual Adoration. While at Ave Maria I had the privilege of teaching Elementary P.E. at the local Montessori and starting up the University’s Theater department, which included writing, performing, and directing published and original works which later developed into a national traveling theater company that still performs today. I hope to bring this teaching experience into the classroom knowing full well I too will be learning during this exciting first year with Catholic School House.  My four children, and one due in November, will be joining the program too.

Shari Holloway:

I am the 6-7 yr olds mentor for the 2017-2018 school year.  I earned my Bachelors in Music Education K-12 at Northern Illinois University.  I have taught at the middle and high school levels and substitute taught K-12 and have just entered my 16th year of homeschooling.  This is my fourth year teaching with Catholic Schoolhouse in Omaha.

I have thoroughly enjoyed teaching Catholic Schoolhouse and am looking forward to another inspiring and invigorating year!
