Omaha, NE Chapter – Catholic Schoolhouse

Information

Welcome to Catholic Schoolhouse  – Omaha/Gretna

I’m glad you’re here to learn a little more about our chapter!  We will be in Tour I, American History,  for the 2017-2018 school year.  (There is a three year rotation of studies in Catholic Schoolhouse.)

We meet for 24 weeks on Tuesday mornings, mid August through April at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Gretna.  Our day begins at 7:30am with an option for Mass.  At 8:00am mentors arrive and prepare their classrooms while students may have quiet social time before class begins.   At 8:45, we begin our day with prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance.  After prayer and Pledge, students learn and review memory work, enjoy hands on art, science, music, presentations and a snack.  At 12:30pm, all classes gather for a closing prayer and announcements.  All families are encouraged to stay for lunch and social time after class.

Each family is responsible for purchasing the Tour I Guide from the Catholic Schoolhouse Store.  Other resources to purchase are the  History Cards and Music Memory Work CD.  It is also highly recommend to purchase the Art and Science books so you can extend the lessons at home! All are available at the Catholic Schoolhouse Store.

Our tour I history studies begin with explorers discovering the new world and continue to Modern Day. Geography encompasses North America, States and Capitals while our quarterly science focus is Zoology, Weather, Anatomy, Electricity & Magnetism. Our religion focus for Tour I includes Psalm 23, Our Relationship with God and Prayer, the Church, Mary (poetry and the Magnificat). Also included is American Art, Bach, Beethoven, Sousa, Joplin, Strauss for music and Prayers (Prima Latina) for our Classical Languages.

I am looking forward to an exciting and fun-filled year!   If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me!

Many Blessings,

Carrie Hubert
